Welcome to Department of Laws Library



The Department of Laws, originally established at Lahore in 1889, was re-established at Shimla in 1948, shifted to Jalandhar in 1950 and finally re-located at the University Campus at Chandigarh in 1959. Its Alumni include Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, Union Cabinet Ministers, State Chief Ministers, Cabinet Ministers, Ambassadors, Senior Bureaucrats, Police Officers and other legal luminaries.

Library at Department of Laws provides a blend of services with books, journals, newsletter and e-databases at one place. It has significant number of 47400 books inclusive of age old manuscripts and textbooks. It provides access to the online databases of full text judgments of Supreme Court and all the High Court’s of India, and e-laws books such as Manupatra, Lexis Advances, Thomson Reuters Proview, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press Package, and Sage. The Department has also distinction of having Depository Library for United Nations documents with more than 9000 documents.
